Music Academy

MUSIC ACADEMY

The Music Academy has 11 exclusive rooms to train the students in musical instruments viz. Keyboard, Drums, Guitar, Veena, Flute & Violin. The musical unit comprises 8  keyboards, 4 drums and 6 guitars and training is imparted by Gurus who have completed advanced grade exams in their respective fields. The students are also specially trained in various instruments to take part in competitions. The students who are very much interested in appearing for grade exams in the Trinity School of Music in Keyboard, Drums & Guitar category, are given special training apart from school hours. The instruments like Flute, Violin & Veena are provided with focused training by qualified teachers who have completed bachelor degree in different fields of music. Nearly 6 flutes, 6 violin, 3 veena are provided to students for learning these musical instruments. Drawing, Art & Craft along with Folk Dance are also taught within the co-scholastic curriculum by our Department of Fine-Arts.

SALANGAI POOJA & BHARATHANATIYAM

The school has been giving training and conducting Salangai Pooja (Anklet adorning) and Arangetram for the Bharathanatiyam students every year. The school has tied up with Kalai Kaviri Fine Arts College, Trichy and is conducting a 3 year Diploma Course for the above said fine arts.

Salangai Pooja is usually done when one has learnt Bharatanatyam for a few years and has attained a good handle on thalam. A dancer is allowed to wear the anklets for dancing only after the Salangai Pooja. An Arangetram is a Bharata Natyam dancer’s first full-length solo performance signifying that he/she is able to present the complete suite of traditional repertoire.

SCHOOL BAND

Music is one of the seven intelligences identified in the brain and the only one that utilizes all seven intelligences simultaneously. Students who participate in music courses exercise more of their brain than in any other course they take in school.  Band reinforces the skills of cooperation and co-ordination which are among the qualities now most highly valued in business and industry, especially in high-tech contexts.

Our School Band focuses on group performances. We have two wings of band comprising Girls – Pipe Band and Boys – Brass Band. The School Band troupe is trained by Retd.Police officers. The Services of our band is often used in all major Govt. functions in the UT of Puducherry.

 SKILL EDUCATION

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”

– Mahatma Gandhi.

Education should be skill based rather than knowledge based so that it will be easy for all students to study faster and understand better. In the present scenario, skill based education is not a choice but the need of the hour where the demand for skilled professionals is very high and the desire to get skilled is low.

Understanding the need to promote the skill among the school students, the school has introduced Skill education for classes V to VIII and it has found satisfactory results among the students. The students of class V & VI may choose from Vegetable and Fruit Carving, Micro art (Chalk art), Rangoli and Floral Carving, Craft from Waste. Students of class VII to VIII can choose from Creative Art / Sculpture / Tailoring / Micro Art (Chalk art) and Basic Science / Craft from waste. The tenure of the courses is for a period of two years and experts in various fields are appointed to handle the classes in an effective manner. Field Visits are organized to give practical knowledge to the students.

GUIDANCE & COUNSELING

GUIDANCE & COUNSELING

Effective Guidance and counseling is a very important program in our school. It is the process by which students are given advice on how to deal with their emotional conflicts and personal problems in school and how to incorporate the same in their daily life. Students are given solutions on how to deal with psychological problems which might affect their studies. Through this, the students are able to develop problem-solving skills which, to an extent will help them deal with particular issues surrounding their lives.

Sometimes, students along with their parents are brought together to make them understand each other and the parents are also guided on how to nurture their child and develop them as good citizens of the nation. This counseling has been greatly helpful in handling the adolescent students, shaping their behaviour and also in instilling discipline among our students. A person qualified in yoga, who has completed diploma in acupuncture, advanced courses in pranic healing, and courses in varmakalai visits the school and holds counseling sessions for all the students on a regular basis.

Meeting a counselor / wellness teacher is arranged through prior information to class teacher/class mentor and informing the office.

Role Of Parent

ROLE OF PARENTS

Parents, the vital Partners

As a school, Amalorpavam believes in partnership between the family and the school. We believe that parents’ active involvement in education lies at the heart of the learning process of their wards. Together we teachers and parents can create a harmonious school life for the children.

The parents can meet the Headmistress during the working hours and discuss about any specific problem or clarify their doubts about the child. The class teachers and subject teachers are available to parents for individual consultation after school hours by prior appointment to discuss the academic, personal and social developments of their children.

Parenting Principles:
  • Education is preparing your children for life, not just for school
  • Stop underestimating your child instead start understanding the child
  • Be the best parent & role model to your kid
  • Gift the child character & best personality but not money & luxury
  • Say No to comparison
  • Learn to say ‘No’ to your kid for bad things that can spoil your child & find opportunities to say ‘Yes’ to guide and teach them something good.
  • Make yourself available to your kids and learn to listen to them
  • Do discipline your kid and avoid punishing
  • Be aware and check your environment and your child’s emotions
  • Teach the children the importance of being ‘Happy
  • Develop a sense of Gender Equality and Respect
  • Promote natural and healthy food habits
  • Ensure the kids sleep for adequate hours
  • Involve them in outdoor games and sports

Discipline: Code of Conduct

Students are expected to remember & follow the given etiquettes at all times:

Club Activities

CLUB ACTIVITIES

Fran Smith discusses how, “Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. Arts learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork.”  Fine arts education has been proven to increase the academic achievements, development, civic engagement, and the opportunities of the children that participate in it. These are many of the skills that most nations want to imbibe in their youth.

Our students shine not only in academics but in indoor and outdoor activities as well. They outdo their contemporaries in the field of performing arts extraordinarily and win wide acclaims. Skilled professionals are employed to hone the skills and talents of the students in the fields of all types of arts and music. Separate acoustic chambers are allotted in the Music Academy Block for training students in various musical instruments like Keyboard, Drums, Guitar, Veena, Flute, Violin and in other art forms like Drawing, Vocal Music Classical Dance & Folk Dance.

Eco Club

Eco club plays an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation. The Main motive of the Eco Club is to nurture and teach the importance of environment to students.
