Salangai Pooja is usually done when one has learnt Bharatanatyam for a few years and has attained a good handle on thalam. A dancer is allowed to wear the anklets for dancing only after the Salangai Pooja. An Arangetram is a Bharata Natyam dancer’s first full-length solo performance signifying that he/she is able to present the complete suite of traditional repertoire.

Music is one of the seven intelligences identified in the brain and the only one that utilizes all seven intelligences simultaneously. Students who participate in music courses exercise more of their brain than in any other course they take in school.  Band reinforces the skills of cooperation and co-ordination which are among the qualities now most highly valued in business and industry, especially in high-tech contexts.

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”

– Mahatma Gandhi.

Education should be skill based rather than knowledge based so that it will be easy for all students to study faster and understand better. In the present scenario, skill based education is not a choice but the need of the hour where the demand for skilled professionals is very high and the desire to get skilled is low.

Understanding the need to promote the skill among the school students, the school has introduced Skill education for classes V to VIII and it has found satisfactory results among the students. The students of class V & VI may choose from Vegetable and Fruit Carving, Micro art (Chalk art), Rangoli and Floral Carving, Craft from Waste. Students of class VII to VIII can choose from Creative Art / Sculpture / Tailoring / Micro Art (Chalk art) and Basic Science / Craft from waste. The tenure of the courses is for a period of two years and experts in various fields are appointed to handle the classes in an effective manner. Field Visits are organized to give practical knowledge to the students.
